Founded in 1706, Albuquerque is also known as the Duke City given that it was named in honor of the 10th<\/sup> Duke of Alburquerque, who was the Viceroy of New Spain at the time.<\/p>\n

The most populous city in New Mexico, Albuquerque is a vacation destination known for its devotion to the arts. The city also hosts the International Balloon Fiesta each year, which is one of the largest gatherings of hot air balloons in the world.<\/p>\n
